Cool Profit$ Magazine and goHTSN.com Is Back...Again!
By John R. Hess

Here's another goHTSN newsletter; we're moving now!
First things first:
A. We will send Magazine #64 to the printer by the end of next week. Printing and distribution should follow within two weeks. Advertisers please contact me with your updated ads.
B. Those receiving the magazine whose mailing address has changed within the last year need to submit their new address. (The PO will not forward your magazine.) Please use this Update Link, or call, email or fax in your change. (Phone/Fax: 800-883-8929 or 707-769-8929)
C. If you need to subscribe, we now have a new SECURE payment site by way of PayPal.com. Besides their own payment method, you can make a payment via any of the popular credit cards. Note that our printed magazine schedule is now four (4) issues per year. The cost within the US is $16. Other options are available on the Subscription Page.
D. The print version is covering the cost of the online version. However, there will be an online subscription charge in the future which will not include a print version. This will make it easier for Cool Profit$' International subscribers to access our material.
E. As for what I've been doing, simply stated, I've been reorganizing the direction of Cool Profit$ Magazine, including the appearance of our websites (imcool.com and goHTSN.com).
F. Reader Comments can now be added to most imcool.com editorial pages! You respond directly to individual articles by use of the TalkBack Comment input panel located at the bottom the page. This focuses comments more on the subject of the page versus a conglomerate on "Forum" pages. Samples below (scroll to the bottom of each page):
DEX-COOL-Part 3
A/C VOV-Part 2
Note that this system has just been added. It's not been promoted at all. The users so far are those who found the comment section on their own and chose to comment. Please feel free to comment to them yourself, and then email them on to someone who you feel would have interest in the article and your comments...or those of others.
G. Blogs are coming to Cool Profit$! A Blog is an online location for a writer to speak out on various subjects, often intermittently. They're usually for one person's opinions but can be setup to allow readers to comment as well. They're different from the simple Reader Comments above as the software allows for fairly complex archiving and retrieval of writings by date and subject.
Another advantage of a Blog over simple page comment is that the Blog author can normally go back in and edit their work. Reader Comments, as indicated through F. above, cannot be edited.
I've installed WordPress Blog software to imcool.com. However, I'm not sure it's the right program for us. Frankly, I'm having a tough time setting it up for our industry subjects. If anyone can help with the organization, or knows of a better (easier to use) program, please contact me.
H. Goodoldparts.com is inactive. It will be redesigned in the near future so that subscribers can add and delete their own for sale inventory items, versus me having to perform that excruciating, meticulous reading and typing.
I. I'm continuing to improve memory-wise. The meds seem to be working. However, since I still may have lost previous memories, please don't be offended if I have to ask you a few extra questions to catch up on our previous discussions. Thanks.
End of August 27, 2007 "Back Again!" message.
-------------------------------------------
March 20, 2007
I'm no longer hiding it. For several years I’ve suffered from short-term memory loss. I knew my memory was weakening but didn't realize to what extent. Then, starting about two years ago, about every month I’d awake with a totally blank memory; Ellen will attest to that.
Most recently, it happened again on the Monday after the Superbowl. I awakened with no memory of watching the game. Worse, Ellen had to remind me that I had just attended the 2007 MACS Convention in Phoenix on the previous Wednesday through Saturday. That was shocking news to me.
Fortunately, with enough documents, plus photos and video from a new camera, in about five hours of study I was able to rebuild most of what I lost. I say most because some things are still fuzzy.
I started visting the Dr. last year. I’ve had a sleep apnea test, CT scan, lumbar puncture, two MRIs and an EEG (electroencephalogram). The EEG was performed in a medical office and lasted about an hour. None of the tests revealed anything unusual.
On Tuesday after MACS 2007, I had a portable EEG exam were I wore 16 electrodes glued to my head and carried a recorder for 48 hours. (No showers!) The results from that test showed abnormal brainwaves in frontal lobes. Not knowing exactly what to call it, the neurologist chose to treat me for the closest ailment: seizures.
The first medicine was very debilitating; it immediately weakened my balance, was fatiguing and blurred my vision. Within two weeks a severe allergy appeared and I was switched to a different “med.” This one seems to working great and actually, I feel better than I have in months. My memory seems much stronger and I'm ready and able to start producing again.
Please Stay With Us
If you’re not already, please subscribe to our HTSN Newsletter: www.goHTSN.com/subscribe. This is how we’ll keep everyone up to date on both the magazine schedule (there will be four in 2007) and the website development.
Look for newsletters as often as one a day. I'm getting so many automotive news articles and releases that are so important to service shop owners and technicians, that I'll not run out. And one thing that I do remember hearing from so many friends at the MACS Convention is that everyone enjoys the Heat Transfer Service Newsletter!
Thanks
John and Ellen Hess
