In Distress
Need Help With '95 Olds Failed Speedometer

Are there any speedometer specialists reading the goHTSN.com newsletter? If so, please see if you can help.

It's the GoHTSN.com company car: clean, nice running 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme, with recent transmission cable replacement. Two weeks later the speedometer stopped dead.

The speed sensor feeds the computer and there is a line from the computer to the speedo panel, but local shops do not have the wiring diagram beyond that point. They're stuck.

Speedometer Problem on 1995 Old Cutlass Supreme

Weird: the Tach and Odometer both work properly. Since the Speed Sensor drives the odometer, is it likely that the speedo head has just died; is that common? If so, can it be repaired or is a new or rebuilt unit required?

Can the speedo head be replaced-repaired without needing a whole new tach, speedo, odometer module?

If someone has an answer, or suggestion, please call John at 800-883-8929. Or, email jrhess@gohtsn.com with an answer.
Thank you.
