DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts builds on DuPont’s announcement Aug. 13 by further streamlining the company from 14 to 13 businesses to capitalize on global growth opportunities, including driving decision-making closer to customers by increasing regional business responsibility and accountability.
Gary W. Spitzer, who has been serving as president – DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise, will lead the organization as president of DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts.
“DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts has the strong market position and global channels to bring DuPont’s innovation, knowledge and customer focus to swiftly connect technologies, products and services directly with the needs of the growing global marketplace. We are excited about the opportunities for customers and our people as we play to win in this $10 billion market space,” Spitzer said. “DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts unites two successful businesses to accelerate growth by expanding market access in all regions, leveraging our strong science and chemistry competency and driving world-class operational productivity. We will deliver faster product innovations and strengthen responsiveness to customers’ needs around the world.”
Emerging markets represent a significant growth opportunity for the new business. “Capturing growth in emerging markets requires critical mass, superior regional market insights, and empowered local resources to act rapidly and decisively to better respond to customers,” Spitzer said.
Growth in any region in the world will require driving cost and productivity performance, and DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts will achieve this through asset productivity, supply chain optimization and distribution and logistics.
The merger will integrate the company’s fluorine business, capitalizing on DuPont’s number-one global position in fluoroproducts, as well as leveraging industry franchises and brands, and maximizing supply-chain efficiencies to grow market share. The business will use market-driven science to develop new products and technologies, including refrigerants with low global warming potential and next-generation fluoroproducts.
DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts also will provide established and seasoned leadership to help address current and future industry challenges and opportunities such as chemicals management and product stewardship.
