From John Hess:
I was fortunate enough to have met Mike, along with his dad, Fran, his uncle, Gene and his grandfather, Al, as a sales rep for Stuart Radiator. I believe it was in 1975. It was a heyday for our businesses and the VanderPluym's were true gentlemen and leaders in the industry.
Soon after, we set up Al's Auto Radiator (2144 Market Street) as a distributor. I visited often and found Mike and his family absoulutely great to work. This also showed by the strength of their very loyal customer base.
My condolences to his wonderful family, including Joey VanderPlyum, Mike's little brother and operator of Gravois Auto Radiator Company in St Louis. (Who I used to see coming into the shop after getting out of high school.) Fond memories.
