New Haven, CT — Nov 19, 2007 — Proliance International, Inc., the aftermarket leader in automotive heat transfer products, announces the release of HBX® High Performance Charge Air Coolers for popular Dodge and Ford light duty turbo diesel pickup trucks. Designed as a drop-in replacement for less efficient OEM charge air coolers, the HBX® design enhances both performance and durability.
HBX® High Performance Charge Air Coolers for popular Dodge and Ford light duty turbo diesel pickup trucks
Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) all aluminum or plastic tank/aluminum bar and plate charge air coolers built for turbo diesel pick-up trucks are prone to various failure modes such as core leaks, tube-to-header leaks, header-to-manifold leaks and manifold cracking.

For vehicle owners, the symptoms of these leaks and cracks in the charge air cooler include:
· Increased turbo lag
· Reduction in turbo boost pressure
· Reduction in overall power

HBX® Charge Air Coolers feature patented Ultra-Seal® technology to stand up to high pressure and temperature-induced stresses and extreme vibrations inherent in many turbo diesel applications. Proliance's patented Ultra Seal (R) CAC has a unique zero-leakage, resilient joint design and and other patented structural characteristics that make it the best durability solution available.

How ULTRA-SEAL® holds, seals and absorbs damaging stress developed while under power between the core and its manifolds:

  • ULTRA-SEAL® is a patented system that features high-temperature silicone-polymer elastomeric joints that holds and seals the core tubes to the headers and absorbs damaging pressure and temperature induced stresses developed under power.
  • ULTRA-SEAL® joints are created using specially shaped grommet mats that insure long-term zero-leakage performance. The Ultra Seal® joints are made from a specifically formulated high-temperature silicone that exhibits superior aging properties. The shape and cutting edge material choice makes this product the best overall reliability solution available today.
  • ULTRA-SEAL® not only eliminates the possibility of tube cracking and tube-to-header joint failure, but also displays a unique manifold design that eliminates manifold cracking issues. In addition, the side columns are bolted on to insure the most robust product available today. All in, Ultra Seal® creates the only infinite life cooler available in the market today.

Profile view of grommet/tube installation into the manifold.
Note: the grommet lip on the far side of the manifold/header has been expanded by the insertion of the tube, to create inner seal.

HBX® charge air coolers increase power by lowering the temperature of the compressed intake air of a turbo-charged engine. Cooler air is denser and packs more oxygen into the engine for improved performance and efficiency. HBX® Charge Air Coolers replace the traditional bar and plate and tube and fin charge air cooler design with a Proliance tube and fin design having high efficiency turbulators and advanced louvered cooling fins for superior performance. The Ultra-Seal® design features on the cast aluminum manifolds are engineered to mate precisely with the factory mounts and tubing.

The more you put your turbo diesel truck to the rigors of daily use, the more you need a high performance HBX® intercooler with Ultra-Seal® technology. For more information contact HBX® at: 800-755-2160 or visit us online at www.hbxcooling.com.
