Warren, MI – August 6, 2008 – SPX Service Solutions today announced plans to open a new, 230,000-square-foot distribution and logistics facility in Romeoville, Illinois.  The facility will distribute tools and equipment used in servicing all types of vehicles, trucks, and watercraft.  The new distribution center is central to the efforts to continuously improve service to customers.  The facility will reduce delivery time to customers, while also providing a single consolidation point for deliveries in North America.  Commercial operation of the new facility is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2008.

The companies will lease space at the Weber road facility, adding 55 jobs and a significant investment to the community. The distribution center will house all of Service Solutions’ aftermarket inventory and will receive product manufactured at SPX North American facilities as well as from their Asian and European manufacturing sites.  Product will be consolidated in the facility to provide shipments throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

“We have a growing business in North America, and this new distribution center is a key in providing our customers with the service they have come to expect from SPX,” said Tanvir Arfi, President of Service Solutions Americas.  “This new Distribution Center is part of SPX’s supply chain improvement plan, targeted to enhance our total client service. This initiative in particular is geared to improving service to our aftermarket customers across the Americas.”

Romeoville is located in a key area for manufacturing distribution, due to its location, skills base, and logistics resources.

“One of my key priorities as mayor is to keep attracting new businesses to Romeoville,” said Mayor John Noak of Romeoville.  “This new distribution center and the jobs it brings are a great addition to our community.  We are excited to have a company like SPX locate in Romeoville.  The Village looks forward to building on our already strong relationship with SPX as we move forward together.”
