April 9, 2008, Leesburg, VA – The National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) has scheduled a discussion panel for the Spring General meeting to address questions regarding the new Secure Data Release Model (SDRM), which was released January 1, 2008. The Spring meeting will be held on April 15 at 2:00 pm in the Mackinac East/West Room at the Marriott Renaissance Center, Detroit, MI. “The SDRM panel will consist of representatives from vehicle manufacturers, independent locksmiths who are registered and currently use the system, and the American Automobile Association (AAA),” said Charlie Gorman, NASTF Chairman. “The SDRM panel will address questions related to development, participation, system integrity, ease of use, customer support and much more.”
The SDRM panelists are as follows:

General Motors: Bob Stewart
Nissan: Jim Von Ehr
Volkswagen, Kurt Immekus
Locksmith: John Brueggeman
Locksmith: Claude Hensley
American Automobile Association: Justin McNaull

This information also covers the registration process and qualifications necessary for a repairer or other security professional to access this security information. The website also provides a link to download the necessary forms to apply for inclusion in the national registry.

NASTF was established in 2000 to identify, communicate and resolve gaps in the availability and accessibility of automotive service information, service training, diagnostic tools, and equipment for the benefit of automotive service professionals and their customers.
