Sacramento, CA — March 12, 2008 — California Air Resources Board (CARB or Board) staff invites you to participate in a public workshop on April 8, 2008, in El Monte, California, to discuss proposed amendments to the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) Test Procedure. The proposed changes are necessary due to two main developments. The first development relates to new vehicle technologies which cannot be adequately tested with the current test procedures. The second development relates to the proposed amendments to the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) regulations, which will be heard by the Board at the March 27, 2008 Board Hearing. For more information on the proposed ZEV regulation changes, please go to this web page.

ARB staff is preparing a draft test procedure that addresses these issues. Staff will present a strawman proposal we hope will focus the discussion on areas that need clarification and modification. The draft test procedure and a workshop agenda will be made available via the ZEV Program Internet website in the week prior to the workshop.

Staff will explain elements of the proposed amendments at the workshop and ask questions about the anticipated impacts of such changes. Comments presented and public input received at the workshop will be used in drafting a final proposal for the Board’s consideration at its October 2008 hearing.

Details of the workshop are as follows:
Date: April 8, 2008
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: California Air Resources Board
Auditorium, Annex 4
9530 Telstar Avenue

Staff Contact: Lesley Crowell, (916) 323-2913
